Vida criticizes Ola Michael over Funny Face’s predicaments

Vida Adutwumwaa Boateng, an entertainment commentator, has questioned Ola Michael’s assessment of Funny Face’s latest interview, arguing that the comedian’s admission of guilt and real contrition should be praised rather than criticised.

Vida claimed that despite the emphasis on Funny Face’s previous transgressions, his request for brand partnerships is a positive step towards atonement, showcasing his willingness to work and support his family during difficulty.

In an interview with Kofi TV, Funny Face, who was given bail for knocking down five pedestrians, begged leading corporations to reconsider him as an ambassador. Despite failures, Funny Face remained confident in his capacity to provide results, claiming his significant following and impact on social media as proof of his marketability.

Ola Michael, a filmmaker and entertainment critic, accused Funny Face of acting during an interview with Kofi TV.

“I can understand that you need money to support these people you’ve caused harm to. But seriously, if I’m a company or a brand, he will be the last person I’d consider for an ambassadorial deal,” Ola said on United Showbiz hosted by MzGee.

He said, “[If I were him], I would have waited a long time because no brand would recruit someone who would harm their reputation. That is why I feel he should have just apologised during the interview. Feel regret, and let us all to relate with that emotion. However, when you contact brands, you are taking advantage of the situation.
“That’s why I believe he was acting.”

“It is very insensitive on the part of Ola to say Funny Face was acting in the interview as though it was a movie being shot,” Vida went on to remark. “Funny Face has made mistakes and apologised, but he never blamed himself for his problems.” He first blamed coworkers, his baby mom, and others, going so far as to shoot his dog.

“But here’s someone who admits he was at fault. The regret was evident during the interview. We are obsessed on the fact that he was intoxicated and have forgotten that a specific motor vehicle crossed his path, which cannot be ruled out as the cause of the tragedy.

“I’ve seen celebrities beg for money when they’re in difficulties. However, this is a guy approaching businesses for partnership because he can use his influence. He should be congratulated for his willingness to work. What’s wrong with this plea?

“Neither of us are saints. He has asked for forgiveness and is willing to strive to improve his reputation. He has four children and has caused hurt to others. How can he keep himself together if we trivialise this issue?” Vida inquired on a broadcast monitored by ZackGh.com.

‘I am a new person now’ – Funny Face begs for forgiveness

After careful consideration, Funny Face acknowledged to becoming a nuisance to Ghanaians. In that sense, he appealed for forgiveness and the opportunity to repair the damaged trust.

He stated in an interview with Kofi TV that, while his acts were not intentional, he has accepted full responsibility for them and would now take progressive measures towards becoming a better person.

The comedian stated that after a lengthy struggle with difficulties that he normally addressed in a casual and negative manner, he is treating life more seriously today.

“I feel like a new person who is taking life more seriously. I created issues for myself. I refuse to blame anyone for what I went through.

“The world is terrifying, but I am the root cause of my difficulties. I am the primary cause of my troubles. Everyone is now fed up with me, and that is the point I’ve reached, yet no one understands what I’m going through.

“I need God’s favour as much as Ghanaians’ favour. Funny Face stated that it was never his intention to demolish everything with his hands after years of hard work.

Funny Face granted bail

On Tuesday, April 9, 2024, Funny Face was granted bail after two weeks in police detention. The Kasoa-Akweley District Court granted the actor bail for GH¢120,000 with two sureties.

He is scheduled to appear in court again in four weeks while the investigation into the accident continues.
