Iran has fired missiles into Israel

First and foremost, may the Most Merciful God protect us from World War III; war is the last thing you want in your generation; nonetheless, Iran’s deployment of drone strikes and missiles at Israel has sparked discussions on Ghanaian social media platforms about a future world war.

According to Aljazeera, Iran launched more than 300 “killer drones, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles” against Israel on Saturday, April 13, 2024.

According to the article, Israel’s Defence Minister Yoav Gallant stated that the government was able to intercept the missiles and avoid significant damage.

“Together with the United States and additional partners, we managed to defend the territory of the State of Israel. Very little damage was caused – this is the result of the IDF’s impressive operations,” he said.

However, he warned, “The campaign is not yet over; we must remain vigilant and attentive to the instructions issued by the IDF and Homefront Command.” We must be prepared for every circumstance. Having said that, we successfully stopped the most major wave of the onslaught.

Ghanaians have been closely monitoring the situation on social media, fearing that it would grow into a worldwide conflict.

Among the anxieties are jokes that the administration may blame the war for the country’s economic difficulties.

This stance originates from the constant mention of the Russia-Ukraine conflict as a key reason in the country’s recent economic downturn.

Some people are also debating where Ghana would align if the government must make such a decision.

The majority of tweets believe Ghana would support Israel since the United States and the United Kingdom, two of Ghana’s most important partners, have united with Israel.

There are also commonplace jokes concerning Ghana’s Armed Forces’ capacity to defend the country if the need arises.
