A fact-checking agency has confirmed a video of President Bola Tinubu pledging to decrease petrol costs to N100.
On March 5, 2024, an X (previously Twitter) user published a 12-second video. It displays a person imitating the president. The caption for the video reads:
“By the end of August, fuel will be sold at N 100 per litre—Bola T, 2023.”
How Tinubu’s video on petrol was manipulated
In the viral video, which has been gaining traction since when it was posted, the mimicking voice was heard saying:

“I want to tell Nigerians that things are working fine and that fuel will be sold at 100 Naira per litre by August’s end.”
Before April 10, the post had received more than 89,000 views, almost 200 comments, nearly 700 reposts, and 100 bookmarks. The post’s comments section has a wide range of perspectives.
Several commenters derided the remark, claiming it was phoney and contrived, while others felt the video was genuine.
Fact about Tinubu’s video on petrol emerges
Dubawa claims that manipulation was linked to the supposed video. Tinubu’s lips moved strangely when contrasted to his regular facial expressions and communication. There was a distinction between his words and lip motion. The video also contained mechanical tone, indicating that it was a fake.
The fact-checking medium used deepware.ai, a verification tool, to confirm the video’s authenticity. Analysis revealed that the video was a forgery, with several dubious elements.

Shettima urges Nigerians to pray for Tinubu
Reports spotted by ZackGh.com indicates that Kashim Shettima, the vice president of Nigeria, has called on Nigerians to continue to put President Tinubu in their prayers.
The vice president stated that it was every responsible citizen’s obligation to pray for their country’s leaders.
Shettima said Tinubu was aware of the country’s myriad issues and voiced hope that Nigeria will overcome them.
