King Promise apologizes before Wizkid, for no-show at Accra concert

King Promise has expressed regret to his supporters for skipping a concert (WizkidLiveAccra) he was scheduled to perform at over the weekend.

The performer added that giving concerts for his fans was his main priority and that he did not take their love and support for granted in a message posted on his Twitter account.

He stated what appeared to be his justification for missing the event that evening:

“What I will never do is to compromise your safety no matter how much I’m paid for a show.

“I apologise for last night’s mishap. I PROMISE to make it up to you really soon,” the statement read in part.

Even though King Promise and other scheduled performers did not appear, most of the performance proceeded on as planned. However, audience members who stayed till the early hours of Sunday morning were overheard bitterly lamenting, particularly about Wizkid’s mysterious absence.

The performance and the absence of the headliner, Nigerian afrobeat musician Wizkid, received a lot of negative feedback on social media, and the organizers claimed that Wizkid had broken his contract.

The performer then apologized for the cancellation and said that production and security concerns stopped him from giving his fans the high caliber concert they were due.
