Mona Hajia4Real pleads guilty in $2million romance scam case

Hajia4Real, a well-known socialite and influencer in Ghana, is said to have entered a guilty plea in a $2 million romance fraud case.

Her fans following and social media followers have been shocked by the discovery, since the captivating persona is well-known for her lavish lifestyle and glitzy online persona.

According to information on the US Attorney’s Office website, on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, Hajia4Real—real name Mona Faiz Montage—pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to accept stolen money.

There is a five-year maximum penalty for this offense.

The recent development was reported by Damian Williams, the US Attorney for the Southern District of New York.

“Mona Faiz Montrageknowingly received money stolen from older Americans through romance scams and was arrested abroad and now faces serious consequences for her actions,” he said.

Attorney Williams went on to say that the romance fraud hurt older and fragile victims by making them face the harsh fact that their love relationships, wherever they may be, are fake.

Hajia4Real has further consented to pay $2,164,758.41 in forfeiture and provide an equal amount of restitution.

Paul A. Crotty, the U.S. District Judge, will sentence her later.
