Ghana defender Baba Rahman regains consciousness after fainting in Greek Cup semi-final clash
The Greek Cup semi-final match between Panathinaikos and PAOK included a terrifying incident for Ghanaian defender Baba Rahman when he lost consciousness following a collision with an opponent.
Rahman lost consciousness as the opposition player headed straight for his back.
The game had gone into extra time after a 2-2 tie in regulation time when the event happened in the 115th minute of play.
Rahman was given emergency care on the field and, happily, became conscious again.
He was taken from the field in an ambulance as a precaution, nevertheless, and is presently receiving further care at the hospital.
The 29-year-old was saved with prompt action by the medical experts from Panathinaikos and PAOK.
The incident caused the match to be temporarily delayed, and the referee ultimately decided to end it and move on to a penalty shootout.
After a shootout, Panathinaikos prevailed 6–5 on penalties to book their spot in the Greek Cup final.
Baba Rahman, who left Chelsea to join PAOK FC permanently last summer, has been a vital member of the team.
He has made 18 league appearances for the Black and White boys this season, netting three goals and dishing out two assists.
