Gospel musician Akwasi Nyarko opens up about his aunty’s threats on his career

Gospel artist from Ghana, Akwasi Nyarko, has spoken out about how his aunt threatened him when his song “David Ba” gained popularity.

According to Nyarko’s account of events, he was able to earn enough money through events to buy a car to help with his transportation after his song “David Ba” became well-known around the nation.

He went on to say that when he arrived in his hometown to see his family, he was greeted like a hero. But according to one of his aunts, “he would never be able to sing again until she died.”

“I became well-known thanks to the ‘David Ba’ song, but I did not make enough money.” I therefore had to rely on giving performances at events in order to make some money, which enabled me to save money for my first car. My aunt vowed to stop me from singing till she passed away as I drove to my hometown with the car.

“I visited my family there during a period when my song was really well-liked in the community. In a video posted by Marigyata on their Instagram page and seen by ZackGh.com, he added, “I was given a hero’s welcome upon my arrival because it is very difficult to flourish in life coming from such a town.”

Nyarko further disclosed that before his song became popular and made him a prominent person, he was not given the deserved respect by his family.

He said, “Before I released the hit song [David Ba], the family had abandoned me.”
