Gospel Musician MOG Music On Why He Cannot Comment On The Passage Of The Anti-LGBT+ Bill In Ghana

Ghana’s Parliament enacted an anti-LGBT+ measure on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, making it illegal for LGBT+ individuals to engage in certain activities inside the nation.

Because H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the president of the Republic, has not signed the bill into law, it is currently not a law in the nation.

The bill’s passing has sparked a lot of debate, despite the fact that it is not yet law. Several reputable European nations have publicly said that they believe it to be cruel.

Gospel artist MOG Music was asked what he thought of the bill during an interview on UTV’s United Showbiz.

MOG chose to use the fifth plea, as is customary in legal proceedings, in response to a query from the show’s host, MzGee.

When asked why he would not speak on a matter that has gained a lot of attention both in Ghana and internationally, the celebrated artist responded that he was afraid his words might be misunderstood.

The “WO YE” crooner continued, saying that if he stated that he was in favor of the bill’s passing, some people could misunderstand him and the opposite would probably have the same effect. For this reason, he believed that it was unnecessary to react in order to preserve his reputation and brand.
