“Polygamy is part of our culture, absolutely” – Akon supports Nick Cannon

In a recent interview, Akon, an American artist of Senegalese descent, stated that he agreed with Nick Cannon‘s decision to have numerous children.

The “Locked Up” singer gave his thoughts on the expanding Cannon family during a discussion on The Zeze Millz Show.

“I agree with him 1,000 percent. That’s how life is supposed to be,” the 49-year-old commented. Why not?” He’s wealthy. He is accountable. Every single one of those kids is cared for by him. And the expectant mums are on board. And they suffer needlessly. They also like comfortable living.

Akon said, “He’s there for every one of them,” in response to presenter Zeze Millz’s observation that providing financial assistance is not the sole aspect of parenthood. Every single one of those youngsters has him by their side. I’m there for each and every one of my nine children.

“So every single time, you’re at every single recital?” Millz asked the musician.

“No, that’s a white man’s thing. Who gives a f**k about a recital?” Akon responded. “No, seriously. Listen, my job is to raise my kids, to be responsible, to be understanding, to protect their mother, to give a hand with their father, and to assist with family planning, and to be responsible adults … Now guess what? While I’m taking care of my responsibility to make sure the family has a roof over their head and food, if I have the time to do that and show love, yes, I will do that. But my responsibility is to make sure they grow up responsible and strong.”

He added, “You can’t expect a man to conquer the world if he’s there with his children.”

Although Akon has high hopes for the Wild N Out creators’ parenting, Cannon himself opened up about feeling guilty and “spread thin,” during an episode of Paramount+’s The Checkup with Dr. David Agus.

“Being a father of multiple kids, it’s always the biggest guilt on me is that I don’t get to spend enough time with all my children,” he detailed, according to Buzzfeed.

With his ex-wife Mariah Carey, the presenter of The Masked Singer is the father to 11-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan. He and Brittany Bell are parents to daughter Powerful (age 2), boys Golden (age 5) and Rise (age 11 weeks), as well as Golden (age 5). The comedian has a 1-month-old daughter named Beautiful and 18-month-old twins named Zion and Zillion with Abby De La Rosa.

Cannon also has a 5-month-old boy named Legendary and a 5-month-old daughter named Onyx with model Bre Tiesi. Son Zen, the couple’s first child, unfortunately passed away from brain cancer at the age of five months in December 2020. Currently expecting a second kid, he and Scott.
