Many people have been interested in the Nollywood business as a result of the tragic deaths of renowned figures. However, these significant losses are not restricted to the filmmaking business.

Today, ZackGh.com will look at some important Nigerians that died in the year 2024.

1. John Okafor aka Mr Ibu’s death shocked Nigeria:

On March 2, 2024, popular Nollywood actor John Okafor, also known as Mr Ibu, died after a protracted illness. Nigerians adored the comedy movie actor, and many came together to help him when he requested financial aid due to his declining health.

However, Mr Ibu’s death sparked a lot of controversy and drama, with part of it centred on family conflicts and charges of misused monies, among other things. The late film actor offered his followers optimism that he might live after having one of his legs amputated and being released from the hospital. He was later transferred back for expert treatment, where he finally passed away. Mr Ibu’s death sparked debate about the lack of a stable family, among other issues.

2-4: The Wigwes Death:

Herbert Wigwe, a Nigerian financial magnate, his wife Doreen, and their first son, Chizi, perished in a helicopter crash on February 9, 2024, to the dismay of many. The tragic circumstances surrounding their deaths rocked many Nigerians to their core. The Wigwe family’s loss dominated social media for several weeks, with heartfelt tributes flooding in for them. Billionaires, business moguls, politicians, pastors, and others gathered to mourn the Wigwes during a wake held for them, and many of them spoke highly of the deceased. One of Herbert Wigwe’s little kids burst into tears while eulogising her late older brother, Chizi Wigwe, in a viral video.

 

5. Amaechi Muonagor died after battling kidney failure:

In 2016, it was announced that Amaechi developed diabetes and had departed the film business. In 2023, he had a stroke, which caused partial paralysis of his left leg. The legendary actor died just days after posting a social media request for financial aid to pay for a kidney transplant. He died from renal failure on March 24, 2024, at the age of 61.

6. Jenifa’s Diary star Adejumoke Aderounmu dies at 40:

Adejumoke Aderounmu, a brilliant Nollywood actress, died at age 40, upsetting fans. The heartbreaking news of her death went viral in April 2024, eliciting emotions from her coworkers, particularly Funke Akindele.

However, Adeola, the late Jumoke’s brother, accused Akindele of failing to care for his sister while she was alive. This claim sparked a slew of heated discussions on social media, including a comment from Jenifa’s Diary creator.

 

7.Jnr Pope, other crew members die by drowning:

The news of actor Jnr Pope Odonwodo’s death on April 10, 2024 shook Nollywood to its core. The actor and other crew members drowned when their boat flipped while filming.

Many of Pope’s supporters, however, thought that he would be revived after learning that he was still alive. Netizens had hoped to receive good news regarding his full recovery, but it was not to be.

Following his death, some social media users discovered ancient prophecy recordings from seers who claimed to have felt doom around the late celebrity before to the boat accident.

 

8. Nollywood star Sisi Quadri passes on:

On March 3, 2024, word leaked that Yoruba Nollywood star Quadri Oyebanji, aka Sisi Quadri, had died.

Many of the movie star’s followers were surprised by his death, which was subsequently determined to be the result of a peculiar ailment. Another video surfaced, showing the actor moaning about his health at a hospital. Many of his followers and prominent colleagues paid tribute to the talented musician on social media.
