Frederick Owusu Sakyi, a 33-year-old Ghanaian living in Maryland, USA, has been charged with the murder of his estranged wife.
According to a statement released by the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO and seen by MyNewsGh.com), the dead, whose identity has been withheld, and the suspect were allegedly going through a divorce.
The case’s facts include that on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at around 11:11 p.m., security guards were called to the Urbana Giant, which is situated at 3530 Sugarloaf Parkway, in response to a complaint of a shooting incident.
When authorities arrived, they discovered the culprit was at large and one victim had died.
Frederick Owusu Sakyi, 33, of Walkersville, Maryland, was eventually located via investigations by the murder team, and he was apprehended without incident.
After giving his car a brief inspection, deputies found an assault weapon on the back seat and a pistol on the front seat.
“We will not share the deceased’s identity on social media out of consideration for the family. Nonetheless, all next-of-kin notifications were made by FCSO deputies, according to a statement issued.
Sakyi was the victim’s estranged spouse, and the first inquiry revealed that they were now divorcing. Furthermore, Sakyi has a history of stalking and protection orders. Sakyi was taken by deputies to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center so that she could be booked.
The Giant’s location at the Urbana retail mall is once again accessible to the general public.
