Ghanaian actress, Lydia Forson elaborates on the reasons for Ghana’s tax issue

Lydia Forson, an award-winning Ghanaian actress and social media phenomenon, has offered her opinion on the circumstance that has raised the issue of tax collection in Ghana.

The Ghanaian writer and producer, born on October 24, 1984, want to see everyone do the right thing when it comes to paying taxes, regardless of class or rank; whomever abuses the law should be dealt with.

The trouble with the entire tax debate, according to Lydia, is that it is always placed on the backs of Ghana’s suffering poor.

She believes that the wealthy should be punished equally when they avoid paying taxes, water and electricity bills, and that they should never be allowed to get away with corruption so that the government can be confident in going after others.

“The problem with this tax argument is that it’s always left on the foot of the struggling poor Ghanaian. Punish the rich who evade taxes, water & electricity bills and get away with corruption and then you can have the confidence to come after others.” – Lydia Forson tweeted
