Kasapreko company founder comments on his billionaire status

The founder of Kasapreko Company, Mr. Kwabena Adjei, has recounted his inspirational narrative. Born in a “forest,” he stormed the city to hustle and returned to his birthplace to build his dream palace, where he stays with his entire family, including extended cousins.

The fascinating tale of Dr. Kwabena Adjei, the founder and president of Kasapreko Company Limited, who chose to live a very humble life in spite of his wealth, is worth reading.

Dr. Adjei set up his retirement house inside a forest in Wassa Amenfi, Western Region, despite having a ton of luxurious residential units scattered over the nation, including the well-known “Signature Apartments” in the center of Accra.

The business magnate shared his genuine experience with prominent Ghanaian YouTuber Wode Maya. He talked about his former hardships, highlighted his “modest life” now, and discussed his desire to one day leave a legacy for his age.

“For the first 13 years of my life, I was born in the forest. I had never travelled anywhere other than in the forest. It was very challenging. Because at that time, I was not even living in this cottage, (points to his mansion). I was with my mother, father, and myself in the middle of the forest. So, I used to walk about five miles each morning to come to school here. (points to the area in which he built his mansion) and after school, I went back to the middle of the forest, where I lived with my parents.

“Where I live currently is a family house I built (points to the mansion). As the head of the Aduana family, I had to relocate all my family members from the first house (a simple two-storey building) to this current place. I am an old man, I am not doing these things for myself, I just want to do something for my generation. I take care of my family’s needs. Each member of my clan. I sponsor each one of them through to the University. I’ve set up a fund for my grandchildren so that even if their father cannot support them someday, their grandfather already has. I was so inspired by my forefathers. I live like a villager; I eat what the villagers eat. You grow your own thing and eat your own thing. (points to his farm filled with labourers). I am a village man,” he told Wode Maya.

But in spite of all of this, the creator of the Kasapreko Group of Companies maintains that he is not a billionaire. “I’m not a multibillionaire. To be honest, I don’t consider myself to be wealthy. As a man and a human, I am ordinary. They are the wealthy ones with cash; I was in America not too long ago. Consequently, I cannot claim to be a billionaire if I own some cedis. Aside from Dangote, who else is wealthy in Africa? No one. In Ghana, who is wealthy? Nobody.

Speaking on his choice to live a simple life while being among the wealthiest men in Africa, Dr. Kwabena Adjei said, “An eagle studies its prey, goes straight to it, and picks it when it wants to hunt.” Because there is no gain in being showy or outgoing, I am all about being focused. Though I don’t like the media, not everything needs to be publicized, sometimes it’s impossible to hide.
