Ghanaian Muslims join millions world wide to mark 2024 Ramadan fasting

Muslims across the country have commenced fasting to mark the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, Ramadan.

This is after the moon was sighted, Sunday, March 10th, 2024, which declared, March 11, 2024, as the beginning of the month of Ramadan for 2024 in Ghana. However, those who didn’t believe the moon was sighted started on the 12th of March, 2024.

Ramadan is the holiest month in the Islamic calendar. Ramadan begins with the sighting of the moon.

To Muslims, this is a month of reflection, and self-improvement in relation to one’s behaviour toward other people, oneself, and Allah.

Each year, billions of Muslims world wide embark on fasting during the 9th month of the Islamic calendar which is Ramadan.

Fasting in Ramadan involves abstaining from eating, drinking, smoking, and sexual relations from dawn to sunset.

It is a month of intense devotion and commitment to the principles of love, sacrifice, and devotion to duty.
