Market women mob Bawumia as he commiserates with them over fire outbreak
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the vice president and flagbearer of the NPP, received a warm welcome from market ladies in Accra’s Madina Central Market on Friday morning during a trip to express their condolences for the recent fire outbreak.
Last week, fire burned large portions of the market, causing major property losses for many market participants.
Following behind-the-scenes conversations with market women’s leadership with the government earlier this week, the vice president and NPP flagbearer paid a visit to the market on Friday morning to meet with the market men and women who had lost their possessions.

When Dr. Bawumia entered the market, the women greeted him enthusiastically as he walked around inspecting the impacted areas.
Dr. Bawumia addressed them and conveyed his compassion for the affected market ladies, as well as his willingness to assist them in returning to business.
Dr. Bawumia announced intentions to begin work immediately on a three-story, 120-store structure to replace the burned facility.
Also, the Ghana Enterprises Agency, represented by its CEO, promised financial aid to people affected by the incident.
The NPP flagbearer contributed 200,000 Cedis to individuals impacted by the fire outbreak.
