Bawumia supports GHc200,000 to support Madina Market fire victims
The government will seek additional funding from the Women’s Empowerment Fund through the Ghana Enterprises Agency to assist the victims.
Meanwhile, the government has opted to construct two distinct three-story buildings for the Madina Market, each with 120 businesses and 78 shops on the ground floor.
The blaze that torched the Madina Market last Tuesday, April 10, impacted around 110 dealers, destroying properties worth thousands of Ghana cedis.

During a visit to Madina Market on Friday to empathise with and encourage traders, Vice President Bawumia informed the fire victims that the government cared deeply about their well-being and would help them get back on their feet.
He also advised people to get fire insurance policies to obtain financial assistance in the event of a fire breakout.
To avoid future fire outbreaks, the Vice President advised traders to use skilled and certified electricians to install power connections in their stores and businesses.
The Vice President said that the two hostel facilities built in Madina and Ashiaman for head potters (Kayeyie) will be opened on May 4, 2024, to offer them with decent living conditions.
The dormitory amenities would also make an ideal setting for teaching head potters in marketable skills.
Daniel Nii Titus Glover, Greater Accra Regional Minister-Designate, praised the New Patriotic Party’s Flagbearer, Dr Bawumia, and urged traders to vote for him in the December elections.
Madam Jennifer Dede Adjabeng, the area’s MCE, recommended the affected shopkeepers to register with the Assembly so that they may be assisted with the validation process.
She also warned them not to fall prey to fraudsters who would visit them and demand money under the guise of obtaining new outlets for them.
Chief Fire Officer Salia Abdulai instructed the traders on fire safety precautions and encouraged them to avoid unauthorised power connections, which were one of the leading causes of fire breakouts.
