Lawyer Tsatsu Tsikata – None of the candidates had 50%

Lawyer Tsatsu Tsikata has insisted that none of the candidates who participated in the 2020 election met the constitutional threshold of 50 per cent of votes cast.

According to the Lead counsel for former President Mahama in the 2020 Election Petition case, the Electoral Commission Boss  Mensa decided to give free votes to President Akufo-Addo in order to declare the New Patriotic Party (NPP) winners.

Speaking to KSM on the KSM Show last Friday, Tsatsu Tsikata said he believes the Supreme Court was not fair to the NDC and John Mahama especially when they did not allow the EC Boss to testify.

However, he believes the 2020 Election was not won legitimately by anyone since none of the candidates met the 50 per cent + 1 threshold.

“Fundamentally, what I think is most problematic about the judgement is that, we have a situation in this country now where if you base yourself on the Declaration that was made by the Chairperson […] there was not a constitutionally valid Declaration because no candidate got 50%.
