Kwasi Kwaning Bosompem resigns as Controller and Accountant General
Kwasi Kwaning Bosompem, Controller and Accountant General, has quit his office, effective Monday, April 15, 2024.
According to Graphic, the government’s chief accountant submitted his resignation letter to the President’s Office last week, and the president has yet to accept it.

Mr. Bosompem’s term as accountant general might be attributed to the ‘No GhanaCard – No Pay’ policy.
The ‘No GhanaCard, No Pay’ policy entails integrating the National Mechanised Payroll Database CAGD with the National Identification Authority (NIA) database.
The technology allows for real-time biometric validation and verification of government personnel, which is decentralised to CAGD verification facilities around the country. This effectively addresses phantom names on government payrolls.
