Ejisu Primaries: Kwabena Boateng emerges victorious
Private legal practitioner Kwabena Boateng won the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ticket in the Ejisu constituency primaries conducted in the Ashanti Region on April 13.
Kwabena Boateng won the NPP’s parliamentary candidature for the forthcoming by-election, defeating eight other candidates, including former Ghana Football Association (GFA) chief Kwesi Nyantakyi.
The candidates were Dr. Evans Duah, Klinsman Karikari Mensah, Helena Mensah, Jacqueline Abena Pokua Amoah-Boaitey, Portia Baffoe Abronye, Aaron Prince Duah, and Yaa Gyamera Aboagye.
According to the Electoral Commission’s count, Boateng received 394 votes out of 1033 legitimate ballots cast, solidly solidifying his lead. His closest challenger, Madam Helena Mensah, received 302 votes, followed by Yaa Gyamera Aboagye with 229 votes. Kwesi Nyantakyi, the former GFA boss, trailed with only 35 votes.

Boateng expressed appreciation to the delegates for their confidence and support, promising to honourably represent the people of Ejisu if elected as their Member of Parliament.
He dedicated his victory to the late MP Dr. John Kumah, vowing to continue on his legacy of service.
The primary was held in preparation for the by-election in Ejisu, which was triggered by the death of NPP Member of Parliament Dr. John Kumah. The Electoral Commission has scheduled the by-election for April 30, which will represent the next phase in the constituency’s electoral process.
