Kennedy Agyapong’s brother picks Irene Naa Torshie Addo as ‘perfect’ candidate to partner Dr. Bawumia

Before the December elections, Ralph Agyapong, a lawyer and the brother of Kennedy Agyapong, the MP for Assin Central, has called Irene Naa Torshie Addo the perfect woman to run with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Ralph claims that if the party chooses to select a woman to run with the NPP flagbearer, Kennedy Agyapong would undoubtedly support Irene Naa Torshie Addo as Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s running mate.

“I am not biased when it comes to the choice of a woman but if you put your ears to the ground, you will hear testimonies about how she receives people who approach her warmly. I know she and my brother (Kennedy Agyapong) may have some minor issues but if you put up a list of the female contenders he will tell you his choice is Irene,” he told Kwame Nkrumah Tikese of Okay FM in an interview.

He mentioned Irene Naa Torshie’s age and flawless interpersonal skills as two things that will set her apart from other possible female contenders.

Prior to the general elections of 2024, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has not yet selected a running mate.

Prominent members of the party, both male and female, are among his possible selections. One of them is Irene Naa Toeshie Addo, the District Assembly Common Fund Administrator.

A push to select a female candidate is gaining momentum in the interim, after the decision of Dr. Bawumia’s primary rival, former National Democratic Congress President John Dramani Mahama, to select Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as his running partner.

Ralph Agyapong, however, asserts that the opposition’s decision should not force his party to select a female running partner.
