Court told how prime suspect and lover allegedly plotted and murdered Jirapa Dubai owner

The Wa district court was packed to capacity. In the courtroom hearing the case of the murder of Eric Johnson, the owner of Jirapa Dubai and operator of the Royal Cosy Hills Hotel, there was not enough place to walk.

Chief Superintendent of Police Abdulai Amadu Alichewu led the prosecution and notified the court of the charge sheet modification first.

In addition, he begged the court to grant the release and acquittal of four out of seven accused individuals.

In closing, Mr. Amadu Alichewu stated that the prosecution has irrefutable proof that the main defendant, Eliasah Mahama Akpanyikye, had plotted to assassinate Mr. Johnson with the help of his girlfriend, Belinda Miller.

Maxwell presided over the court. Mr. Mahama Akpanyikye was remanded to jail custody by Maxbrain Titiriku, while Miss Miller and Kweku Kumbata were placed under arrest and were to make their next appearance on April 15.

On February 9, Mr. Akpanyikye, the former hotel human resources manager, was fired along with four other employees and his girlfriend, a front desk worker.

He was fired because it was believed that he had several extramarital affairs with over four of the hotel’s female staff members, which led to unhealthful competition and bickering among the women and hindered hotel operations.

Afterwards, the national service employee Belinda Miller, 26, was fired by the hotel administration, but this decision was eventually reversed.

The prosecution further revealed that Eliasah Mahama Akpanyikye used an aluminum ladder to scale the reinforced gated wall on the night of February 10 in order to gain entry into Eric Johnson’s private property.

He called Belinda Miller many times while in the private property, inquiring as to where he could get the master key to Mr. Johnson’s room, according to phone records that were made available to the police.

Mr. Johnson was left nude and covered in blood after Eliasah Mahama broke into his room and gave him numerous stab wounds.

The prosecution disclosed that he also removed his own Nissan car key and an undisclosed sum of money from the room, using them to leave the murder scene and subsequently ditch the vehicle near Jirapa Zongo.

Additionally, the prosecution informed the court that Eliasah Mahama had left Laureate Asare, his other lover, in his room that evening on February 10 under the guise of going to get her food.

When Miss Asare saw no trace of her lover, she fell asleep and didn’t wake up until she discovered that he was wearing a towel.

Eliasah said that he was unable to purchase the meal because he had forgotten to bring cash when Loretta questioned where it was.

She discovered that he had a bandaged wound on his hand. She inquired about the cause since she was inquisitive.

In response, Eliasah said he was hurt when the door slammed onto his hand.

However, after an inquiry, he told the police that he was hurt while chopping vegetables for meals.

According to the prosecution’s assessment, the first accused could not have sliced his right hand while chopping vegetables since he was not left-handed.

On the other hand, he fled Jirapa town in the early morning hours and traveled to Takoradi, where he was apprehended and transported by plane to Wa.

According to Mr. Amadu Alichewu, they have irrefutable proof that Eliasah Mahama Akpanyikye, the main suspect, plotted to assassinate the CEO of the Jirapa Royal Cosy Hills Hotel with the help of his girlfriend, Belinda Miller.

In order to expedite investigations, the prosecution was instructed by the court to communicate with the Attorney General’s Office.
