Alan Kyerematen and Abu Sakara alliance can push 2024 election into a runoff – Asah-Asante

The new partnership between Dr. Abu Sakara, a former convention people’s party (CPP) flagbearer, and Alan Kyerematen, the leader of the Movement for Change, might force a runoff election for president on December 7, according to political scientist Dr. Kwame Asah-Asante.

If they can mobilize Ghanaians to cast ballots for them, that is.

On Thursday, April 4, 2024, Alan Kyerematen announced in a statement that his Movement and Dr. Sakara’s National Interest Movement (NIM) will be partnering under the name Alliance for Revolutionary Change.

The ultimate objective is to unite Ghanaians from all walks of life, focusing especially on women and youth, in order to elect an independent candidate to the office of president of Ghana.

Dr. Asah-Asante, who spoke to Starr News, said the two, whom he called gentlemen of ideas, have what it takes to head any group worth its salt and are all aware of the problems facing the nation.

“There is no denying that they are a formidable opponent. There is no question in my opinion that eventually they will reach a point where they can unite and continue forward.

“For me, Alan is a giant. If you look at the Ashanti Region, Central Region, and Eastern Region, I have no doubt that he can cause a stir there.

“Abu Sakara, another fantastic man who has ideas and can also articulate his ideas clearly, has full knowledge of what is happening in this country.

“So the two, if they are able to tie their apron strings together, can cause an upset. Not an upset to win the election but if they get the support of other political parties and if they also perform creditably well they can also push the election to a second round.”
