Veteran actress, Maame Dokono lists Asamoah Gyan, Shatta Wale as among those she once helped

Legendary Ghanaian football player Asamoah Gyan is one of the numerous Ghanaians who profited from veteran actress Grace Omaboe, aka Maame Dokono,’s lengthy acting career.

Maame Dokono said on Happy FM that certain Ghanaians in the business and medical sectors benefited from her generosity as well as those in the entertainment industry.

Maame Dokono listed Asamoah Gyan and Shatta Wale as two of the persons she assisted over her career, but she did not elaborate on the specifics of the assistance.

“I helped a lot of people in this country. Asamoah Gyan and Shatta Wale are part of those people I helped. Shatta Wale passed through my hands at some stage. Some of the people I helped are bankers, and doctors, amongst others. I did that because I don’t want to see people suffer,” she said.

Maame Dokono described in a 2018 interview with TV3 how she gave Shatta Wale a platform to grow in his artistic career.

In the interview, she clarified that she helped Asamoah Gyan and Shata Wale become successful by providing them with opportunities on the then-popular program By The Fire Side.
“Shatta Wale was a gong-gong beater in By the Fireside… he’s one of the numerous persons I have helped,” she stated.
