Ghanaian professional football player, Thomas Teye Partey who plays as a midfielder for Premier League club Arsenal and the Ghana national team, Black Stars has revealed the reasons for his conversion to the Abrahamic religion, Islam and has disclosed his Islamic name as well.

When news of Ghanaian footballer Thomas Partey’s conversion to Islam, the world’s fastest growing religion, broke, many people didn’t believe it and assumed it was just one of those internet trend something or a fad on social media.

Many people were puzzled as to what prompted the successful Ghanaian athlete to join the growing list of celebrities who have chosen Islam as the truth and the correct religion for humanity.

The Arsenal midfielder discussed why he opted to convert to Islam in an exclusive interview.

Thomas Partey has indicated that his Moroccan sweetheart was the driving force for his conversion. He had to convert if he wanted to spend the rest of his life with the gorgeous Muslim lady and he has not regretted because it is the best religion.

Thomas Partey confirmed in an interview with Nana Aba Anamoah that he was a Muslim when she offered him a palm wine, which is a soft alcoholic drink as he refuses to take a sip respecting the Islamic tradition.

“I have a Moroccan girlfriend so I had to convert. I was afraid she would leave me because I loved her. I grew up among Muslims so it’s not a big deal”

Following his conversion to Islam, Thomas Partey announced his Islamic name as “Yakubu.”
