Derby County will have a taste of League one football next season after they were relegated from the English Championship thanks to both their 1-0 loss to Queens Park Rangers and a superb Reading comeback for a 4-4 draw against Swansea.
The Rams are currently rooted at the bottom of the league with 31 points after 42 games.
Rangers’ Luke Amos struck a late goal in the 88th minute and Derby could not equalise before the whistle was blown.
QPR have now ended seven-match streak of losses, and have moved up to 10th in the championship table.
with three games to go means Derby will play in England’s third tier for the first time since 1986.
Their fight for survival, in a campaign crippled by a 21-point deduction, could only have been prolonged if they equalled or bettered Reading’s result.
