Office of the Special Prosecutor makes a statement on Scholarship
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has revealed that it began an inquiry into the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat’s operations in July 2023, before the alleged rot was discovered.
According to a Fourth Estate investigation, the Secretariat provided scholarships to applicants from wealthy Ghanaian families at the cost of destitute but outstanding kids.
Ghanaians have subsequently urged the OSP to examine the secretariat. The minority in Parliament has asked the Special Prosecutor to investigate the scholarship secretariat’s operations.

In a letter in response to the calls, the OSP stated that the secretariat is now under active investigation for alleged corruption and corruption-related crimes.
In July 2023, the Special Prosecutor’s Office began investigating suspected corruption and corruption-related offences committed by the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat. The investigation is active and ongoing according to the office OSP.
“The office of the Special Prosecutor commenced into suspected corruption and corruption-related offences of the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat circa July 2023. The investigation is active and ongoing,” the office stated.
