‘I am yet to retire from football’ – Asamoah Gyan reveals

Former captain of the senior national soccer team the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan has admitted that he has not hung his boot yet.

According to the Ex-Sunderland man  , he is still open to playing competitive football should the opportunity avail itself.

The 36 year old is yet to play for the national team since the elimination of the Black Stars at the hands of Tunisia during the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

“I am not retired yet, so I feel honored when called for these charity games,” Gyan said on Accra-based Joy FM.

“I want to get back to playing, but I need about two to three months to get back into shape. I want the right timing to start training because there are a lot of activities on my table now.

“I would have started training this month but my tuxedo has been fitted already and can’t lose the weight now,” he added.

Gyan is currently the record goalscorer of the senior National soccer team Black Stars. He has scored 51 goals, with six coming at the World Cup, a record by an African player.
