Ghana Police has arrested Hopeson Adorye over dynamite detonation claims
A major member of the Movement for Change, Hopeson Adorye, has been detained by the police.
The arrest comes after the former NPP member said in an interview with Accra FM on May 10, 2024, that he was part of a scheme to terrify voters in the NDC’s heartland during the December 2016 elections by detonating explosives in portions of the Volta region.

This approach, he explained, was intended to ensure that the NPP won the elections.
“Prior to the elections, we blasted dynamite in parts of the Volta Region, and that scared a number of people. When I finished casting my ballot in Tema, I drove to the Volta Region, and when I asked for the number of people who had voted and the expected number of voters, it turned out people did not come out to vote,” he is quoted to have said.
According to reports, Mr Adorye, who was detained on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, is now supporting police with investigations.
