Alhaji MND Jawula, the former head of the Ghana Football Association, is reported to have passed away.

According to information accessed by ZackGh.com, Alhaji Jawula passed away on January 21, 2023, in Nashville, Tennessee, in the United States.

The seasoned football executive and politician will be buried on January 22 in the United States in accordance with Islamic tradition.

In May, the former president of the Ghana Football Association would turn 74.

From 1997 until 2001, he oversaw Ghana’s football operations. During his administration, the U-17 team finished second and third in the World Cups held in 1997 and 1999, respectively, while the U-20 squad finished second in the 2001 World Cup.

He served as the head of the Ghana Premier League Management Committee, a member of the CAF Interclub Committee, and a board member of Real Tamale United, a GPL team, until his death.

He was born in May 1949 to a wealthy Ghanaian family in the Accra district of Cowlane. When he was three years old, his mother and step-siblings were banished to the North because his father was the chief of Kpandai.

Jawula got involved in politics while still in high school and rose to the position of prefect at Tamale Secondary School.

After completing sixth grade, the young Jawula was admitted in 1968 to the University of Cape Coast, where he pursued his first degree in English and Economics.

He attended the University of Ghana, Legon, to get a Master’s degree in African literature.

He visited Canada in 1989 as a fellow at the University of Carlton in Ottawa. Upon his return, he served in a variety of ministries, including the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Harbours and Railways, and the Ministry of Finance as an administrator and Chief Director before retiring with honor.
