DECEMBER POLLS; INNOVATION AND THE X-FACTOR MUST DECIDE.

With barely some 90 days to the general elections, topical issues for debate and consideration by electorates would critically be looked at, but what would be the X-factor that would trigger voters to exercise thier franchise in favour of party LPG or GUM.

DECEMBER POLLS; INNOVATION AND THE X-FACTOR MUST DECIDE.

Corruption was a major role player that saw a massive rejection of former president John Dramani Mahama during the 2016 election as there were too many unanswered scandals under his watch. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo hitherto, after being sworn into power on 7.1.2017 brought hope as many Ghanaians felt the prosecutions of corrupt officials under the former president wouldn’t go unpunished.

True to his word the office of the special prosecutor was set up specifically for this purpose. Can Ghanaians say they are satisfied with the delivery of the Special Prosecutor- Mr Martin Amidu, let the people be the judge.

  • Education, as the ruling NPP propagated Free SHS since it’s 2008 through to 2016 campaign, the NDC vehemently kicked against it and even did counter adverts to render it unpopular. Fortunately or unfortunately this flagship program of the Npp has had successes and received international commendation from the double stream, through the introduction of green and gold and hitherto having the first batch of the “Akuffo Addo” graduates passing out. Has this been an innovation which has helped Ghana, Let Ghana decide in the December polls 2020.

DECEMBER POLLS; INNOVATION AND THE X-FACTOR MUST DECIDE.

Health, former President Mahama helped put up some medical facilities (like UGMC and others) which is highly commendable. However, as the ruling Government is putting up even more hospitals and facilities; they have also introduced zip line drone project, over 300 ambulances for each constituency and more. The x-factor!

Dear Ghana, never in our history has evey citizen benefited from free water and 50% on Electricity bills ever, since 1957 but the current government through the management of the novel Covid-19 pandemic that hit the world saw these incentives coming the way of the average Ghanaian. Our nurses and teachers have had thier allowances restored under President NADAA which was cancelled under madam Naana Jane (former education minister under the JDM era from 2012 to 2016 and now the current running mate of former president JDM, now Mr Mahama; the flag bearer of the NDC” Hence in the area of Health; Let Ghana decide…

Energy, Topical of the issues that led to the rejection of Mr Mahama at the 2016 polls was a popular term “Dumsor”. For the longest history in Ghana, irregular power flow and cuts hits us unanswered from 2011 to 2016 (5 continuos years). Generators were in vogue during this period and many businesses crumbled and saw massive negative returns in the formal and informal sectors of the economy. As much as this has almost vanished, the ruling government also soiled itself with a questionable PDS deal but handled with integrity as it was corrected. But again, dear president, we want to see people being prosecuted and not just corrected. The X-factor element again has played a major role here.

Infrastructure, arguably the only government that has contributed the most in infrastructure is the Kwame Nkrumah Government. Subsequent governments can only be described as trying. So based on what is being done, and/or maintained one can make an informed conclusion.

Railways development, after the Gold Coast regime and President Nkrumah regime; the rails have simply been neglected and left to its own fate over decades. Thankfully, an astute minister Hon Joe Ghartey has transformed the entire railway sector in 3.5 years with the ongoing lines and carriages he has facilitated into Ghana under the president NADAA regime. Leave politics out of this and this element alone makes me see a true X-factor leader in the current regime.

Barring a few hitches and glitches. “Clearing agent” tactics etc Propaganda has finally died in Ghanaian politics and decerning Ghanaians see the light in identifying issues and speaking to it.

In as much as all governments have done their own bits in contribution to nation building, let’s see the x-factor of the front runners and choose accordingly.

Allow me paraphrase words of a leading NDC member “many of the projects which are now being commissioned have already been captured as completed in our green book some 5 years ago” -Allotey Jacobs

DECEMBER POLLS; INNOVATION AND THE X-FACTOR MUST DECIDE.

In the same vain, Let me paraphrase words of a leading NPP member “If President Akuffo Addo doesn’t jail corrupt Julius Debrah and his boss JDM, I will campaign against him!”- Mr Kusi Boafo.

We have 1 Ghana.
We have 1 country.
No room for politicking and propaganda anymore.
The X-factor must win!
