Biography of Nana Konadu Yiadom III, Current Queen mother of the Ashanti Kingdom

Nana Konadu Yiadom III is the Ashanti Kingdom’s Queen Mother (Asantehemaa). She is the kingdom’s 14th Queen Mother.

Early Life
Nana Ama Konadu was born in Besease, near Atimatim in Ashanti’s Kwabre District, to Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II and Opanin Kofi Fofie. She is the first daughter of the late Asantehemaa and is generally known as Nana Panin. She is the elder sister of Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II, the reigning Asantehene.

After replacing her mother and predecessor Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, who died in her sleep on 15 November 2016 at the age of 109, Reign Yiadom was enstooled as the Asantehemaa with the stool name Nana Konadu Yiadom III. Prior to her death

Yiadom was enstooled as Asantehemaa on 6 February 2017 and formally outdoored as by Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II on 6 May 2017, which also marked Otumfuo’s 67th birthday, during a ceremony at Kumasi’s Manhyia Palace. She was 83 years old when she assumed the throne in 2017.

On the 5th anniversary of her ascension to the Asantehemaa seat, a gratitude ceremony and durbar were conducted at the Manhyia Palace on February 6, 2017.
