Voting should start at 7am and closed at 3pm – EC proposes

Jean Mensa Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) has announced an ambitious goal of ending voting at 3pm instead of 5pm.

Current election regulation requires that voting is held between 7am and 5pm, but the EC is seeking to reduce this by three (3) hours to facilitate a speedy vote count.

The Electoral Commission is currently holding a two-days election review workshop with political parties and other stakeholders to assess the 2020 election and deign modalities for elections ahead. According to Jean Mensa, the EC chairperson, who announced several new proposals for future elections, this proposal will improve the nation’s electoral process if implemented.
