Video of mason being assaulted by armed taskforce over building permit pops up online
A video of a man, claimed to be a 31-year-old Mason, being assaulted by a District Assembly Task Force in the Kwabre East is spreading online.
The mason and the Afigya Kwabre South District Assembly Taskforce had a disagreement over a building permit, and the task force had demanded the mason to hand up his tools during an inspection, which he rejected.
The taskforce numbering about four (4) pounced on the young man as he refused to hand over his working tools and beat him to pulp.
“If I had known this is what would happen, I would have stayed home. Whiles I was working at the site some people came from the Assembly, they asked me to stop working, so I decided to gather my tools and they restrained me from taken my own tools. Then they poinced on me and started me up” – the Mason narrates his ordeal
John Okyere a mason who also works with the Zoomlion Sanitation Company at the Afigya Kwabre District Assembly, can now see with only the right eye and complains of frequent headache and general body pain.
The father of two wants justice to be served by way of prosecution of the perpetrators:
