Background of Detention

Shatta Wale was detained by EOCO in connection with investigations into the purchase of his 2019 Lamborghini Urus. The luxury vehicle was flagged by the FBI and the US Justice Department as part of the proceeds from a $4 million fraud case involving a Ghanaian national, Nana Kwabena Amuah, who is currently serving a prison term in the United States.

Reason for Detention

EOCO stated that Shatta Wale failed to provide credible proof of ownership or lawful acquisition of the vehicle. He claimed to have bought the car “from the street” through an individual named “ZAK” via WhatsApp, whom he couldn’t properly identify or contact again.
