A fatal accident on the Nkawkaw–Accra highway has claimed seven lives after a Sprinter bus collided with a cargo truck at Nkawada No. 2 on Tuesday, August 26.

The Sprinter bus, which had departed from Somanya in the Eastern Region and was heading towards Sefwi in the Western North Region, crashed head-on with the truck under circumstances currently under police investigation.
Six passengers were pronounced dead on the spot, while another victim passed away while being transported to the hospital. Several others sustained various degrees of injury and are receiving treatment at nearby health facilities.
The cargo truck driver and his mate escaped without physical injuries but are in police custody to assist with investigations. Preliminary information points to the possibility that the truck driver may have dozed off at the wheel. Reports also indicate he was unaware it was raining during the crash, highlighting concerns about driver fatigue and alertness in adverse weather conditions.
