According to the statement of claim, Williams allegedly stormed the emergency ward with a group of men, demanding immediate treatment for an injury. When staff insisted he follow hospital procedures, Williams became violent, hurling insults and filming staff and patients without consent. Bortei claims Williams physically assaulted her, causing injuries including a dislocated shoulder and a hand injury that have affected her professional duties.
The lawsuit also alleges that Williams made defamatory statements publicly, calling Bortei a “liar” and accusing her of fabricating her injuries. These statements, Bortei’s legal team argues, have damaged her reputation, subjected her to public ridicule, and undermined her credibility as a nurse.
Bortei is seeking GH₵5 million in damages for battery and GH₵2 million for defamation. She is also seeking a court order compelling Williams to issue a public retraction and apology, an injunction restraining him from publishing further defamatory statements, and another injunction preventing him from coming within 50 meters of her. Williams has been ordered to enter an appearance within eight days of service or face a default judgment.
The incident has sparked heated reactions online, with some people supporting Bortei and others defending Williams. Some netizens have questioned the validity of Bortei’s claims, while others have condemned Williams’ alleged actions.
