My information was that the NPP people who have had sleepless nights since former President John Mahama selected Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang to partner him in the December 7 presidential election, waylaid Prof. Opoku-Agyemang yesterday.
The noted classy pen robbers got all their acts together, and like what armed robbers normally do waited pensively during Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s maiden speech after her outdooring by President Mahama.
They waited to see if Prof. Opoku-Agyemang was going to stray to be an attack dog like what somebody who claims to hold a PhD in Economics, yet has no clue as to where the country is drifting to, normally do to receive bogus applause from the clueless NPP supporters.
But Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang dribbled the NPP terribly. This is what they call “suliya” in football. (Suliya is the ability of a footballer to dribble an opponent so mercilessly and end up placing the football in between the legs of that opponent).
Naana Opoku-Agyemang mounted the podium and demonstrated to Ghanaians that she’s one of us. Somebody you can sit in your kitchen with, and share a drink. Not imposing. Very knowledgeable but low key. Somebody you can easily claim as a sister, colleague or a friend. In fact somebody Ghanaians can relate to and get inspiration from in life.
Naana Opoku-Agyemang did not ran away from her roots. Humble beginning but with zeal and determination broke many barriers in life to where she is now.
And her powerful speech resonated with ordinary and upper class Ghanaians. She connected and made us aware that we are in everything together. She wowed even the NPP naysayers. She covered virtually everything: Education, Science, Agriculture, Banking and even how to make this year’s presidential campaign insult-free. In fact, Opoku-Agyemang totally demobilized that certain attack dog and sent the NPP reeling under pressure. Listening to her one famous musician who came to Ghana in the 80s and wowed Ghanaians came to mind: Ras Kimono.
I’ve heard NPP people say it over and over again that they are more knowledgeable than NDC folks. But they sometimes forget that these NDC people they rubbish on TV and Radio Stations sat in the same classrooms with them, and are far far better academically than them.
Today we have a Third Class Economics graduate as president of the Republic of Ghana, and a so-called PhD holder vice president whose myopic solution to the falling cedi against major foreign currencies was to tell Ghanaians that he had arrested the fallen cedi and given the keys to the Inspector General of Police for safe keeping.
But instead of the clueless NPP folks holding their heads in tears and shame, they rather gave this shameless, bogus, clueless, bragging Walewale Adam Smith a standing ovation. Indeed only in NPP will a nonentity like this vice president will still have a voice to operate.
Ghanaians deserve better. We have been hoodwinked by the NPP through lies for long. But thank God we see a silver lining. The difference between the NDC and the empty-headed NPP folks has become clearer. I, therefore, say that there’s a silver lining in the sky.
Without even mounting the campaign platform, Mahama has won the hearts of many Ghanaians. And certainly Naana Opoku-Agyemang is the icing cake.
The NDC folks have the wind behind them. They have to work hard and go with the flow. Tyrant Akufo-Addo is not resting. His diabolic cousin is not sleeping. And all those who are frantically “raping” the country from all angles do not want to lose this December elections.
The NDC has to snatch victory from the blazing fire. It’ll not be easy. It’s the toughest elections yet for the NDC. But hardwork and determination is what will get the NDC on top. The intimidation, beatings, stealing, and oh yes day light robbery will come but determination and PRAYERS will send Tyrant Nana Addo into oblivion. This is my message to the NDC folks. And they should not joke with it. There’s indeed a silver lining in the sky.
