Public Health and Development Consultant, Mavis AMA Frimpong, contesting as a Parliamentary Candidate on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) in the Abirem Constituency of the Eastern region Counts Her Achievements in Birim North as She Meets The Youths In Abirem. She assured her constituents that she will continue to provide them with more developmental projects when voted into office.
Obaatanpa Mavis in a townhall meeting with the youth of Abirem, organized by the New Abirem Youth Association said, the Abirem Constituency which is predominantly a farming community and a gold mining hub is lagging and lacking behind, in terms of development, as a result of gross failure on the part of successive MP’s to lobby for more projects into the area, a phenomenon she describes will be ‘history’ when she is given the nod to represent the Constituency in Parliament.
She is therefore rallying the constituents to support her candidature and that of H.E John Dramani Mahama in order to propel the Constituency to a new level of developmental experience.
Highlighting some of her objectives and aspirations for the good people of Abirem Constituency when voted into power during the townhall meeting, the former Eastern Regional Minister said, “I will support the refurbishment of indigenous palm oil processing and extraction sites to add value for the International market, support women businesses, lobby for more jobs for the youth, ensure the continuation of abandoned roads that were part of the ‘Cocoa roads’ project, facilitate and lobby for the operationalization of the abandoned College of Education at Afosu among many others.”
The former DCE of Birim North, under the erstwhile NDC administration, is credited for spearheading some major infrastructural projects in the District which includes but not limited to; facilitating the construction of a theatre for the New Abirem Government Hospital, building of the Birim North District Court, construction of an Administrative block and Library for the New Abirem/Afosu SHS, building of Maternity ward and bungalows for Doctors and Nurses at New Abirem Government Hospital, facilitating the establishment of a Fire Service station in the District, facilitating the construction of the District Immigration Office and lobbied for a legal Aid Office in the District.
Other projects credited to her name include; building 6-gated community schools in communities such as Amuana Praso, Pankese, Omanekrom, Adukrom, Owuromera and Kyenkyenku, distributing over 3,987 meters to households in the District free of charge, distributing 2,800 solar panels to various households in the District, lobbying for the tarring of New Yaayaso town roads by Newmont, extending school feeding to over 17 schools from the previous 4 and extending electricity to several rural areas in the District.
Mavis Ama Frimpong advised the youth and constituents not to give an ear to the lies and propaganda that will be thrown at her going into the December 7th elections by her opponents and seized the occasion to also reiterate her resolve to support youth and women empowerment as it was significant in nation building, “If the youth and women in a country are not empowered, then the future of the nation will be in danger.”
Throwing a word of caution to her Constituents especially the youth, Obaatanpa Mavis said, “Don’t allow yourselves to be used as agents of violence as the nation prepares for the general elections”.
