Some supporters of the NPP in the Upper Manya Krobo in the Eastern Region have locked up the office of the ECG over power outage.
The Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia was on a three- day campaign tour to the Eastern Region and visited a Asesewa with his entourage and prior to his arrival there was power outage.
However, there was a rainstorm which is believed to have caused the power outage but briefly the power came and went off again.
This provoked the youth to rush to the ECG office to lock up the place with their own padlock. The staff then left their vehicles and jumped the wall.
According to ECG because of the heavy rain they sent one of their men to Amanfrom in Okere area in case anything happens to connect the power through Koforidua to Tinkong and to Asesewa.
The situation unexpectedly happened and they tried to connect the power and it reached Bisa Junction but there was another fault there , a high tension cable was brought down by a tree that fell and we had to rush to break the line at Akateng road to cut the line before we had power.
But immediately the ECG staff reached the office, they met some NPP supporters who rushed them and locked up the main gate with their own padlock to prevent the staff from entering the premises.
Therefore the ECG staff had to jump the wall to enter the premises to pick up their belongings before going home.
These youth came there 3 times to fight the ECG staff. After some time the youth returned at midnight to unlock the office.
The Eastern Regional Public Relations Officer of ECG confirmed this incident which happened to Starr Fm.
