The State prosecutors in charge of the professor’s case made it known that, Professor Benneh’s cleaner at his residence has confessed to his involvement in the gruesome murder.
He named two other people as his accomplices. This made the state to drop charges against three others.
The Ghana Police officers have also been able to arrest one of the said accomplices.
Murder charges were pressed on September 16 against four persons namely; Christian Pobee, James Nana Womba, Isaac Botchwey, and Adams Mensah Mansur. However, today, the state dropped the case against Isaac Botchwey, Christian Pobee and Adams Mensah.
It has been revealed that James Nana Womba, a cleaner at the late lecturer’s residence is the one said to have perpetrated the act. He committed the act with his accomplice, Opambour Agya Badu who has since been arrested and charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
There are also two other people involved and yet to be apprehended and efforts are underway to apprehend the two.
Those arrested have been remanded in the custody of the police to re-appear on October 14.
Prof Emmanuel Yaw Benneh was murdered and his body was found days after with his hands tied and cloth stuffed in his mouth.
