Mavis Ama Frimpong Congratulates Abirem Constituents For a Successful Voter Registration

Mavis Ama Frimpong, the National Democratic Congress Parliamentary Candidate for Abirem Constituency in the Eastern Region has heaped praises on her constituents for the enthusiasm and commitment they attached to the just ended voter registration exercise.

The former Eastern Regional Minister under the erstwhile JDM administration believes the alacrity with which the constituents participated in the registration exercise was a testament to their hunger for change which will eventually happen come December 7th.

“I was really impressed with the zeal my people showed during the registration period. The turn out was really encouraging and I salute everyone for getting involved in this registration exercise.”

Obaatanpa Mavis,as she is affectionately called, reiterated that the voter registration exercise was the first step towards her impending victory and that of H.E John Dramani Mahama and implored her constituents to jealously guard their voters identification card in order to partake in the December 7th Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

The former Birim North District Chief Executive called on all eligible voters in the Constituency to come out in their numbers during the December 7th elections to endorse the candidature of herself and that of John Dramani Mahama for a better Ghana.

She seized the occasion to thank the indefatigable Constituency Executives, Branch Executives and the various polling agents of the National Democratic Congress in Abirem for their hard work and commitment during the registration exercise.

“Special thanks to my Constituency executives and polling agents for their vigilance and commitment during the registration exercise. Worthy of mention is the zealousness of our abled Constituency Chairman, Alhaji Nurudeen Fuseini and his indefatigable Constituency executives, polling station agents and all other comrades who contributed in diverse ways in making this 39day exercise a success.”

The Abirem Constituency recorded approximately 43,000 registrants during the new voter registration exercise, a decline of about 17% from the previous registration exercise which recorded close to 50,000 registrants.

The national voter registration exercise started on June 30 and officially ended on August 6, in 33,367 polling stations, which was done in six phases with each phase assigned six days for eligible applicants to register.

This was followed by the two-day mop up exercise on Saturday, August 8 to Sunday, August 9, 2020 at the various district offices of the EC across the country to enable eligible applicants who were unable to register in the mass registration exercise to do so.

The first and second phases of the exercise were characterised by overcrowding, necessitating the Commission to introduce a queue management system and mobile registration to address the situation.

The Commission projected to register a total of 15 million citizens but close to 17 million were registered on the last day of the 37-day exercise including a two-day mop-up.
