Kwesi Pratt Pleads With Striking Nurses Even Though They’ve Been Cheated For Far Too Long By Gov’t

1

Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Mr. Kwesi Pratt has called on the striking health workers in the country to resume work in order to save lives of citizen.

The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) consisting of all public sector nurses, midwives, Physician Assistants (PAs) and Anesthetists (CRAs) have embarked on a strike, and therefore seeking for better conditions of services from the Akufo-Addo government.

The nurses and midwives have refused to return to work until their grievances are heard and resolved but Kwesi Pratt is pleading with them to consider the innocent Ghanaian who may become a casualty due to the strike action.

”If His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo falls sick today and we have to take him for medical treatement for even a month, we will do it. If we have to charter ambulance jet to fly him outside, we will take him. The people who will suffer are the poor people”, he said.

Making his submissions on ”Kokrokoo” on Peace FM, Mr. Pratt empathized with the health workers in the country saying ”I admit that you’re being cheated and in fact, it’s not only you who feel cheated but a lot of Ghanaians as well…So, we are all cheated and should we all decided to take an action, we shouldn’t think about ourselves only but have a plan that will help ease all of us. My dear nurses, you have a good case. You have been cheated for too long but we plead with you to resume work so that the innocent pregnant woman won’t lose her life”.

Meanwhile, the National Labour Commission (NLC) has secured an interim injunction to restrain the nurses and midwives from the strike action.

The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) has also asked them to back down on the strike action and return to the negotiation table for matters to be resolved.

  1. You know the hypocrisy, wickedness, ignorance and the “I don’t care life styles” of Ghanaians brought us all this far as a nation.

Sometimes, I listen, observe and watch. I think to understand the Ghanaian man as to why we are like this as a people but it seems the harm caused is more than the good.

I am just a young man coming up but I have seen government upon governments especially this NPP and NDC came to pass in this country.

When it comes to nurses and teachers in this country concerning their salaries and conditions of service we hear all sort of things.

Note: *I AM NOT A TEACHER NEITHER AM I A NURSE*

My question is “why is it like that and why should it be so”

To cut everything short, when the current health minister of this country contracted the coronavirus, it was this same nurses and doctors who treated him.

When Osafomafo contracted the coronavirus it was this same nurses and doctors who treated him including the many ghanian people who contracted this coronavirus.

Now, as at the time they were working in the mist of the pandemic when this were very very tough they were good people and we were all hailing them.

There’s money to people like the health minister and Safomafo their due salaries but you can not pay this nurses and doctors.

Today, they are on strike and because their on strike you call them names to the point of calling them *WITCHES*
    why are we like this?

Why do we have to wait for things to go this way or reach this point before we start to think and to do things right?

I am not in anyway saying the strike action is good because it put the poor and the vulnerable ghanaian men and women at risk and this is not good for us as a people.

They think this strike action is the only way to register their displeasure to make things right for them but it shouldn’t have been so.

I therefore humbly and kindly call on the authorities of Ghana Registered Nurses and Doctors Association to look at their colleague country men and women mercifully and call off the strike and return to work whilst the necessary process and actions are being taken to address their grievances.

We (Ghanaians) plead with them to reconsider their decision and attend to the many ghanaia men and women who needs their services at this times.

    Long live Ghana ✊

God bless Ghana , and make our nation great and strong again

    Concern Citizen!!!
