JANE AND JOHN “JJ” vrs JJ. ETHNOCENTRIC IRONY OF THE ‘PEOPLES’ MANIFESTO

The ever afable Johnson Asiedu Nketia started the evening on a splendid note of joviality which got me smiling and caught my attention to listen further to the “people’s manifesto”.

Founder, Former President HE Jerry John Rawlings as usual not wanting to have anything to do the new face of the NDC and “babies with sharp teeth”, was absent but acknowledged. In his own words, the founder of the opposition NDC has openly declared his respect and support for “principled” leaders like president Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo and hence his absence didn’t really surprise either the NDC nor the NPP.

The people’s manifesto was made to be understood that it’s the first of its kind in the history of Ghana politics that the average Ghanaian was a stakeholder in such an important policy document. Manifesto from the People for the People. Basically, the NDC means well as it is trying to bring out a manifesto of things to be expected in the event of victory to mother Ghana.

However I have a few reservations I’d like to share;

Indeed if we truly are looking for a unifying leader with words of wisdom to unite, then I think the NDC should have unequivocally condemned the “Akyem Sakawa boys” comment by thier flag bearer and former president HE John Dramani Mahamma. Then we would know that it’s not “some” people who are liked and admired but all persons devoid of ethnicity.

“Akoko sa kyere Akoromma a enye no fe” meaning no matter how beautiful the dance of the Cock is, it can never be nice to a Crow. Implying no matter what you do it can never please the eye of someone- comment made in the Ashanti region to Ashanti’s -Former president HE JDM 2015. Tribal sentiments incited with “yen tie obia” hit song by the legendary Daddy Lumba in Kumasi only make me asks if the people of Kumasi are also part of “PEOPLE” that put up the NDC’s manifesto. If so then “WE” demand an unqualified apology for that insult.

The “PEOPLE” who indeed put together the manifesto are Ghanaians and not people of a certain tribe.

I SAY NO TO TRIBAL POLITICS AND INCITEMENTS, wether from party GUM or LPG.

Ghanaians are observing as they are being insulted and spoken down upon and we come out with a manifesto supposedly put together by the same people?

Ghana dicerns.
Ghana watches.
Ghana observes.
Ghana decides.
