“It’s very unfortunate we lost to hearts- Ibrahim Tanko”

Technical Director of Accra Lions Ibrahim Tanko says his outfit gave a lot of respect to Defending League Champions Accra hearts of oak.

Hearts Of oak recorded a 3-0 win over the newly promoted team at the Accra sports stadium in week 26 of the GPL.

According to the Former Black Stars Assistant Coach, his side didn’t deserved to lose the game by that margin.

“It’s very unfortunate we started very well and after ten minutes our players just drew back which was not good.

 “I think my players gave Hearts of Oak a lot of respect which wasn’t supposed to be happening. They played the first round, saw how the league is so I expected them to play more and shouldn’t respect anyone on the pitch. It’s very unfortunate that we lost but we will go back and prepare for the next match.”

“And also the red card that we received, it was very stupid from our players excuse me to say. So that’s what changed the game.”

Tanko who deputized coach Kwasi Appiah at the 20219 African Cup of Nations tournament in Egypt where the Black Stars were kicked out at the round 16 stage was appointed Technical Director By Accra Lions last month.
