Ghana’s newly procured modern train involves in an accident
The Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo administration recently purchased a contemporary train from Poland, which was involved in an accident.
According to sources, the train arrived from Poland roughly two weeks ago and derailed during a test run in Asuogyaman District.

The train was being prepped to go along the Tema-Mpakadan railway route.
Pictures of the incident, which were uploaded on social media on Thursday, April 18, 2024, showed the train’s front heavily damaged.
The train collided with an abandoned Hyundai vehicle along a portion of the track.
The Ministry of Railways Development verified the collision in a press release, revealing that the train, Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) 001, collided with a stopped vehicle during the test run; no one was harmed.
“At approximately 12:10 pm on Thursday, 18th April 2024, while conducting the test, an incident took place around Km76+100. The DMU, upon approaching the curve at Km76+100, encountered a stationary vehicle stationed right across the rail track. Despite the immediate application of the emergency braking system, the train was unable to come to a complete stop before colliding with the vehicle.”
The ministry went on to say, “The DMU involved has been moved to the Workshop for further assessment and necessary repairs” .
It should be noted that in a post made on X, Information Minister Fatimatu Abubakar acknowledged the arrival of the first units, consisting of 12 new trains for the Ghana Railways Development Authority.
