Ghanaians Don’t Promote My Songs Well – Shatta Wale

Ghanaian dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has stated that his songs are not well-promoted enough in Ghana.

He told Miriam Osei Agyeman on 3FM’s Urban Blend on Monday, November 2 that there must be a deliberate agenda to promote Ghanaian songs to enable them compete with their counterparts abroad.

He complained: “They don’t promote my songs well in Ghana. It should be an agenda. Like they do in Nigeria, we must know what we want. There the industry keeps pushing them but here, I think we have a little problem that we need to, you know, solve, like in terms of picturing what we want as an industry.”

Shatta Wale also blamed some artistes over further stated that the artiste attitude constitutes part of the problem.

”How can we talk about us? The is is our attitude and our attitude. Like most of the artistes don’t have the attitude like an approach to their work in terms of like, we weren’t. I was telling somebody like we didn’t have this orientation to be a musician or to be a star.”

He added: ”We just went to the studio played a song. We didn’t know much about the work you see what you’re doing now, you’ve learned about it, you’ve gotten a certificate from this.

“You’ve done a whole lot of courses to be here as a presenter. We never had that we just played music and boom, we are there because of the most of times that comes with ego. Some of us feel so big. When you interview a Ghanaian artiste, it’s like he has something on his shoulder.”
