Chelsea’s newest star Timo Werner has revealed Frank Lampard was the ‘main point’ to making his move to the Blues.
The 24-year-old had another superb season with RB Leipzig, netting 28 Bundesliga goals and another four in the Champions League.
The Blues managed to beat off the competition to pay the release clause at the German club, while Werner was convinced to make the move to Stamford Bridge.
Werner watched from the stands as Chelsea beat Wolves at the weekend to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
And the Germany international revealed how Lampard convinced him to make the move to the west London club.
“He [Lampard] was the main point,” he told Chelsea’s website. “We talked a lot about things like system, like how he wants to play and sees me playing, and how the system fits to me.
