Former President Jerry John Rawlings: I Will Stage A Protest If Parliament Fails To Address Rising Sea Levels

He made his grievances known to a Parliamentary delegation led by the Speaker Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye at his residence. He indicated it is happening bit by bit and if he had to take a placard to parliament house and protest with the inscription “give us some more groins” to draw Government’s attention, he will do it.
He added that, people along the coastal areas should be protected from erosion, and the need to extend the sea defence project from Keta to the Ghana-Togo border at Aflao inorder to avert the denials of residents their places of abode.
The delegation that had called on him to commensurate with his family due to the demise of his mother were the members of parliament made up of both majority and minority caucaus. They expressed their condolences and assured him of Parliament’s support during the final funeral rites of his mother.
