Every Ghanaian Artist to ever get a grammy nomination.

The Grammy’s are regarded as the biggest and most credible award scheme worldwde. Although with it’s inception, it was exclusively for the whites, these days everyone has a shot at winning and this has gained Ghana a number of nominations.

1. Rocky Dawuni

Rocky Dawuni is an unknown figure to most Ghanaian’s and some people in the music industry but outside the country he is a well known figure. An in depth search on his personal site showed that the legend started his career here in Ghana and later moved to the diaspora where he continued in his reggae dancehall genre. In 2015, he became the first Ghanaian nominated at the show.

2. Stonebwoy

Bhim nation president, Livingstone Etse Setekla is the second ever Ghanaian to be nominated for an award. He gained his nomination in 2018 when an album he featured on was nominated. The album belonged to Morgan Heritage and even though stonebwoy did not win, it opened up a lot of doors for him.

3. Fuse ODG

Fuse ODG, didn’t only become the third nominee but the first ever Ghanaian to grab the award at the 2018 Grammy awards. He made this history for co-writing Ed Sheeran’s ‘Divide’ album.

4. M.Anifest

M.anifest became another hero in the record books after obtaining his first Grammy nomination in 2019. His nomination came for his work on Burnaboy’s African Giant album. M.anifest’s track on that album was a real banger and he totally deserved the award.

5. Shatta Wale

Last but not the least on our list is Shatta Wale. Shatta Wale was the only Ghanaian artist to perform on Beyonce’s ‘Lion King The Gift Album’ which was nominated. Even though he wasn’t able to grab the award, he goes into the books as one of Ghana’s greatest alongside all the others on the list.

It is disturbing to notice that none of our artists were nominated for their individual awards but were rather nominated on other projects. Tell us what you think.
