Elikplim Akurugu Declared MP-Elect for Dome Kwabenya Constituency

In a stunning upset, Faustina Elikplim Akurugu of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been officially declared the Member of Parliament-elect for the Dome Kwabenya constituency. This marks a significant shift in the constituency’s political landscape, as Dome Kwabenya had long been considered a stronghold of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Akurugu secured 51,634 votes, narrowly edging out her NPP opponent, Mike Oquaye Jr., who garnered 50,477 votes. This victory is not only a milestone for Akurugu but also a notable achievement for the NDC, as they claim a seat that has historically been dominated by the NPP.

The Electoral Commission’s official declaration confirms Akurugu’s win, making her the first NDC candidate to be elected as the Member of Parliament for the Dome Kwabenya constituency.
